Arrival of Spring was inspired by a field sketch that I completed one morning at Elkhorn Ranch southwest of Tucson.  I was painting with a wonderful New York artist who was a guest at the ranch.  This particular palo verde tree was luminous against the desert arroyo background.  The tree reminded me of a sentry safeguarding the quiet transition from winter to spring.
